Job Purpose & Responsibilities:
This is a permanent, full-time position for an Engineering Technologist within the Infrastructure Services Department.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Engineering Technologist will be responsible for:
- The coordination and engineering inspection of municipal capital projects and development as it relates to roads, sewers, water mains, and facilities.
- Reviewing preliminary and detailed design drawing submissions.
- Handling inspections and enforcement of municipal development infrastructure installations,
- Assisting the Transportation Services and Environmental Services Departments with troubleshooting infrastructure related issues.
- Collecting infrastructure data for the City’s geographical information system (GIS).
- Preparation and/or coordination of municipal infrastructure planning reports, implementing detailed analysis of existing and proposed infrastructure, as well as compiling and maintaining the City’s record drawings and infrastructure reports.
Qualification/Competencies:
- Post-secondary Diploma in a Civil Engineering Technology Program.
- Ability to qualify for and obtain the Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation.
- 1-3 years’ experience in managing infrastructure projects.
- Computer training in GIS and Auto Cad.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- In-depth knowledge of current and proposed engineering design and operating standards of surveying.
- This position also requires a valid Class 5 Driver’s license and annual Driver’s Abstract.
- Previous experience in a municipal or other government setting, is an asset.
More Details:
This position is within the scope of AUPE Local 118/016, and as such you will be required to adhere to articles contained within the Collective Agreement.
Salary for this position is $45.60 /hr.; hours of work are Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, 35 hours a week.
