Job Summary
We are seeking a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team. The successful candidate will be working directly with the customer, maintaining and repairing a wide range of fleets. In this role you will oversee maintenance schedules, conduct inspections, complete necessary repairs and implement best practices to minimize downtime. You will be working in the greater Niagara and Hamilton area with a fully stocked service truck. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy machinery, industrial equipment and Heavy Trucks. CAT 980s, John Deere 844s Liebherr 580/586 , Hyster, Taylor, Kone Fork trucks 9k-72k, CAT excavators , gensets and other equipment. You will need to be prepared to work in all weather conditions. Overtime and afterhours is available but not required.
Duties
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and Heavy Trucks such as highway tractors, excavators, wheel loaders, forklifts, street sweepers and generators.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using schematics and diagnostic tools.
- Repair diesel engines, transmissions, air brake systems, suspensions, HVAC systems, and other components.
- Fabricate parts or modifications as needed using welding and hand tools.
- Operate power tools safely to disassemble and assemble equipment components.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Troubleshooting electrical systems and perform wiring repairs or replacements.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic and Heavy Truck Mechanic with dealership experience or fleet experience.
- Strong background in diagnostics, heavy equipment operation, and machinery repair.
- Familiarity with Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu, Liebherr equipment, tractor-trailers, street sweepers.
- Skilled in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex systems such as hydraulics, transmissions, HVAC, suspension, and electrical wiring.
- Knowledge of diesel engine repair, brake systems, hydraulics and electrical.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments.
- Excellent mechanical knowledge combined with good customer service skills for client interactions when necessary.
