About the RoleThe Data Centre Facility Technician in London is responsible for the operation, monitoring, troubleshooting and basic maintenance of HVAC equipment and electrical distribution systems located within the Data Centers. These facilities are comprised of computer room air conditioning equipment, UPS equipment, standby generators, associated switchgear, and peripheral gear. In additional, the Data Center Facility Technician is responsible for embracing and maintaining the established rigorous internal controls designed to maintain our SOC, ISO, and PCI compliance as well as responsible to maintain the facility site Security B clearance by personally being cleared. In this role, you will be responsible for signing in and assisting collocation clients as required while visiting the data centre to work on their equipment. In this role, you will be required to perform regular walk-arounds of the facility to ensure all equipment is functioning properly. This role is responsible for the timely resolution of collocation client and internal trouble tickets. Data Centre Facility Technicians are also responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and resolving Qu Data Centre network and infrastructure alarms and escalating to appropriate teams as necessary. What you will be doing:· Compliance with all Qu Corporate Policies, including Business Code of Conduct & H&S.· Quick and effective troubleshooting to diagnose mechanical and /or electrical system failures and working with contractors to resolve or mitigate interruption in services.· Basic preventative mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.· Systematically troubleshoot various facilities systems while in alarm.· Maintenance of related electrical drawing documentation and projects.· Works directly with contractors until assignments are satisfactorily completed.· Liaise with Customer Implementation Specialist team for server collocation setup.· Assist pre-sales with facility site tours.· Liaise with Network Administrators and Managed system administration for all required internal Qu Data Centre installs and on-going support.· Perform weekly/monthly generator inspections according to regulations.· Coordinate all new device installations in server room.· Maintain adequate supply levels for Ethernet and Fiber patch cables, power cables, KVM gear, and various other DC inventory supplies.· Perform daily/weekly server room clean up.· Perform emergency cabling and patching, fiber & copper.· Request IP space and DNS setup for collocation clients.· Perform emergency reboots on client collocation systems and various client remote hands requests.· Maintain data center security and security integrity at Qu Data Centres based on security policies.· Performing Qu Data Centre and collocation client system backups and tape swaps.· Ensure both internal and external visitors to the Data Centre adhere to all security and health and safety guidelines. What you bring:· Experience operating and controlling large, complex electrical and mechanical systems.· A working knowledge of pumps, compressors, boilers, chillers, facilities HVAC systems is necessary.· A working knowledge of UPS systems and associated switch gear.· A working knowledge of standby generator systems and associated switchgear.· A working knowledge of sprinkler systems/ fire alarms systems testing, building management systems.· Comprehension of common predictive and preventative maintenance techniques.· Proven discretionary judgment with ability to resolve both routine and non routine issues.· Attention to detail with an ability to follow through on project objectives.· Proven communication skills and exceptional service attitude.· Ability to work in a team-based environment with other facilities and technology professionals.· Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.· Experience working with hand and cabling tools.· Ability to read and understand mechanical/electrical blueprints and single line diagrams.· Graduation from a trade school or recent apprenticeship in a mechanical/electrical trade or equivalent experience.· Must have a car to be available for limited travel, on call and/or overtime.· Willingness to work various shifts including overnights to complete maintenance requirements.· Project management experience (PMP), ITIL certification, mechanical/electrical service experience, building control systems, access control systems, CAD, drafting experience are all considered valuable assets for this role.
