Career Opportunity
We are looking for two (2) Registered Nurses (RNs) to join our Health Services team! As a part of the Health Services team, you will be helping to provide specialized care for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
In this role you will be able to have:
- Impact: This role allows you to make an impact on the lives of people and their families by developing nursing treatment programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and in particular those with a dual diagnosis.
- Autonomy: In partnership with people, their families and care team, you can shape how you approach coordinating access to services and supports.
- System Impact: You can contribute to building capacity to better support adults with developmental disabilities who have complex care needs through education, mentoring and championing evidence-based practices.

What Qualifications & Skills Do You Bring
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Significant, post-graduation exposure to providing professional nursing services to individuals with mental health challenges, challenging behaviours and/or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of the theories, methods, and techniques of developing nursing treatment programs for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, and in particular those with a dual diagnosis.
- Demonstrated abilities to work independently without daily supervision and colleague support.
- Strong assessment, planning, priority setting, and problem-solving skills in order to organize and carry out a demanding workload and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated skill in developing relationships with community service organizations such as laboratories, clinics, Ontario Health atHome and Public Health.
- Demonstrated ability to also work closely as a member of an inter-disciplinary assessment and treatment team.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and listening skills in order to consult effectively with individuals under your care, their families, various other community-based organizations and professionals, such as local physicians and psychiatrists. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are required to prepare assessments and nursing/medical treatment plans, etc.
- Computer skills are required in word processing to prepare various reports and memos, etc.
- Judgement in providing professional nursing services to individuals in accordance with the Standards of Nursing Practices of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Good initiative and judgement in order to carry out the assigned responsibilities in a time-effective manner, and in determining how to meet the complex needs for nursing services of individuals with developmental disabilities and dual diagnosis.
- Ability to work Monday to Friday, rotational 8-hour shifts between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. No overnight shifts required.
