Position Overview
The Transportation Logistics Supervisor will manage daily operational activities, supervise service personnel, coordinate fleet maintenance, and ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of transportation services. The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑oriented, experienced in transportation or logistics operations, and capable of supervising staff in a fast‑paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, plan, assign, and review daily work of mechanics, contractors, and transportation service personnel, ensuring tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently.
- Coordinate daily transportation service and fleet‑support operations, monitoring workflow, service requirements, and operational priorities.
- Plan and manage annual inspections, preventative maintenance, and semi‑annual maintenance schedules for fleet equipment to minimize downtime.
- Prioritize and monitor urgent and scheduled repair work, including breakdown response and ASAP repairs, ensuring timely return of equipment to service.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with dispatch, logistics, and internal operations teams to ensure equipment availability aligns with service needs.
- Work with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to obtain required services and follow up on outstanding maintenance work.
- Oversee temperature‑control equipment maintenance, including preventative service, repairs, breakdown response, renewals, and computerized tracking.
- Ensure accurate use of computerized maintenance and operational systems, maintaining service records, work orders, and workflow tracking.
- Review completed work orders and mechanics’ labour hours for accuracy, ensuring reported work corresponds with services performed.
- Verify parts and materials used for repairs are properly recorded and match work performed.
- Process and review maintenance‑related invoices, ensuring charges align with authorized services and supporting documentation.
- Monitor service quality and operational performance, identify recurring issues, and implement corrective measures to improve efficiency.
- Resolve operational problems and service issues, coordinating with internal departments, drivers, mechanics, contractors, and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations; assist in improving operational procedures.
- Train, onboard, coach, and support employees regarding duties, procedures, policies, safety requirements, and workflows.
- Handle customer inquiries and service concerns professionally, coordinating corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate operational, maintenance, and service documentation, ensuring records for inspections, repairs, equipment status, and vendor services are up‑to‑date.
- Coordinate and prioritize competing service requirements, adjusting schedules and assignments to maintain efficient workflow and minimize downtime.
Employment Requirements
- Completion of secondary school.
- Post‑secondary education in business, transportation, logistics, or a related field is an asset.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or coordination experience in transportation, fleet maintenance, or logistics operations.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or transportation management software (TMS).
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage competing operational demands.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
