The Advanced Care Paramedic plays a vital role in delivering high-quality emergency medical services by providing timely and expert care during medical emergencies. This role is essential to ensuring patient well-being through expert assessment, intervention, and coordination of care in alignment with professional and organizational standards.
The Advanced Care Paramedic will hold a comprehensive range of responsibilities designed to maintain excellence in emergency response and patient care, including but not limited to:
- Upholding all standards of practice consistent with the provincial regulatory bodies to ensure all actions comply with the highest professional and ethical requirements.
- Strict adherence to International SOS' established Procedures and Processes to maintain uniformity and quality in service delivery.
- Demonstrating a thorough understanding and application of the Service Delivery Standards, contributing actively to the Quality Improvement Program, and striving to meet these benchmarks continuously.
- Managing medical records with precision and confidentiality, ensuring storage and retrieval processes meet organizational and legal standards.
- Providing patient management that reflects professionalism, compassion, and a customer-centric approach at all times.
- Ensuring all medical equipment and transport vehicles are maintained in a state of readiness around the clock to facilitate timely medical retrieval services.
- Participating actively in medical retrieval operations, bringing expertise and agility to dynamic environments.
- Engaging in mandatory annual skills assessment programs, including basic life support and other competencies identified for ongoing professional development.
- Operating within the defined clinical scope aligned with the incumbent’s professional licenses, ensuring safe and effective clinical interventions.
- Managing incoming calls promptly and accurately, following Standard Operating Policies and Procedures (SOPP) to assure responsiveness and quality service.
- Executing daily and nightly operational duties as assigned, ensuring seamless service continuity.
- Conducting patient triage when required, applying clinical judgment to prioritize care effectively.
- Actively participating in internal training initiatives, both as a learner and contributor, including preparation and delivery of educational sessions to foster team competency.
- Contributing to equipment maintenance programs by identifying potential issues and liaising with maintenance teams to uphold safety and effectiveness.
- Monitoring and managing stock inventories, ensuring supplies, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), are sufficient, in date, and stored in compliance with infection control practices.
- Documenting patient care meticulously and in a timely manner, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and confidentiality of medical records.
- Participating in meetings, committees, and working groups that aim to enhance operational effectiveness and patient outcomes.
- Assisting with the development and review of procedural documentation to promote consistent and effective practice.
- Engaging proactively in continuous quality improvement initiatives by identifying risks and contributing to quality-related reporting.
- Embracing additional duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to the organization’s mission.
Must-haves (minimum requirements):
- Work experience as an Advanced Care Paramedic
- ACLS
- Exceptional collaboration with other groups and the ability to work under pressure
- Current BC registration
- A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record

Preference for:
- Experience in an industrial setting
- A high level of knowledge and the ability to interpret relevant medical and operational guidelines, protocols, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
