Job Title: Manager - Hardware & Software Engineering Applications

Job Overview
- We are seeking a strategic, highly Technical Manager of Engineering Applications to lead the team responsible for the deployment, maintenance, licensing, and optimization of all Hardware and Software Engineering design, simulation, ALM, and validation suites across the department globally. In this role, you will manage a dedicated team of two Engineering Application System Administrators.
- Your scope spans across two primary domains: 1. Hardware Engineering Applications: Managing enterprise-wide PLM systems (with PTC Windchill being our primary, largest platform) alongside CAD, EDA, layout, signal/power integrity, optics, thermal, and logical simulation software suites. 2. Software Engineering & Validation Systems: Overseeing ALM/DevOps collaboration hubs, secure firmware/BIOS development pipelines, Application Security (AppSec) scanning suites, AI-assisted coding tools, and laboratory validation/test software.
- You will act as the key liaison between the department engineering groups, corporate IT, and external software vendors, ensuring maximum tool uptime, license optimization, and security compliance (including air-gapped RDL integration where applicable)
Responsibilities:
- Administer and support engineering application environments across hardware and software engineering teams.
- Manage application lifecycle activities, including installation, packaging, configuration, upgrades, patching, licensing, and vendor coordination.
- Ensure the availability, performance, and operational stability of critical engineering platforms.
Software Engineering Toolchain Support
- Support and optimize software development platforms, including:
- Azure DevOps
- Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools
- Source Control Systems
- Container Platforms
- Cloud-based development environments
- Enable DevOps best practices and improve developer productivity through automation and process improvements.
- Support firmware development environments and associated toolchains.
Hardware Engineering Toolchain Support
- Support engineering applications used by:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Thermal Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Power Engineering
- PCB Design
- FPGA Development
- Signal Integrity (SI) / Power Integrity (PI)
- Optical Engineering
- Manage application licensing, upgrades, integrations, and vendor relationships for engineering software.
Technical Qualifications Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a highly related technical field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience supporting engineering workloads, with at least 2+ years of direct people management or team-lead experience. Required Technical Skills
- PLM & CAD Architecture (Expert Level): Proven administration experience with PTC Windchill is highly required, including knowledge of Windchill Workgroup Managers, file vaults, and CAD visualization adapters.
- EDA License & Environment Management: Expert-level understanding of FlexLM, licensing daemons, environment variable management, and client-side setup for Cadence and Synopsys/Ansys toolsets.
- DevOps & ALM Platforms: Hands-on familiarity with managing Jira Enterprise, Confluence, Git/GitHub/GitLab architectures, and Jenkins or Azure DevOps pipelines.
- AppSec & Software Compliance: Experience with licensing and deploying binary scanners, static code analyzers, and open-source compliance checkers (e.g., Black Duck, Coverity, or equivalent).
- Cross-Platform OS Competence: Deep comfort operating in heterogeneous network environments running both Microsoft Windows Enterprise (for CAD/EDA clients) and Enterprise Linux (RedHat/Rocky Linux/Ubuntu for HPC cluster nodes, jump servers, and build environments)
