Job Summary
We're seeking a technically-inclined purchasing expert who thrives in a technical manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in vendor management, pricing negotiations, as well as confidence in shipping arrangements. You should be detail-oriented, organized, proactive and continuous improvement-oriented.
Duties
- Procure custom and off-the-shelf components (mechanical, electrical, fabricated)
- Create and schedule purchase orders based on system demand requirements
- Communicate with suppliers regarding specifications, material, pricing, availability, HS code, Country of Origin and delivery schedules
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Logistics, Engineering, Accounting, and Service departments to fully address customer needs and ensure seamless experience
- Attend production meetings to ensure any technical issues or scheduling changes are communicated to relevant parties
- Expedite purchase orders from vendors as required
- Monitor purchase order status and ensure on-time delivery of materials and components
- Assist with inbound shipments and ensure the timely delivery of materials
- Assist with classification of products using appropriate HS (Harmonized System) codes
- Support inventory control by tracking stock levels and identifying shortages or excess
- Order shop and office supplies as required
Qualifications
- 2-3 years procurement experience in a technical or manufacturing environment is required
- College Diploma or comparable experience in purchasing with high school diploma
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems
- Knowledge of HS classifications and CUSMA experience is an asset
- Ability to work in both an office and warehouse setting
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
