ENERCON is currently seeking a Certified Journeyman Industrial Electrician to join its local on-site wind turbine maintenance team. As a key member of the service team, you will actively contribute to the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of wind turbine systems.
In this role, you will be primarily responsible for servicing and maintaining our new Eastern Kings wind site in Prince Edward Island, with occasional travel to support the PEDDN site in the Magdalen Islands, Québec. The team’s warehouse and service hub are located in Fortune Bridge (near Souris), while the wind turbines are situated in Elmira, in eastern Prince Edward Island.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on wind turbines.
- Conduct inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues and propose and implement required repairs or modifications.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
- Use diagnostic tools and techniques for efficient problem resolution.
- Digitally document completed work and used equipment/materials using technological tools (computer, iPhone, iPad, tablets, smartphones).
- Strictly follow all health and safety protocols and procedures at all times.
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of health and safety programs.
- Participate in ongoing training provided by ENERCON (health and safety, maintenance techniques, updated work methods).
- Inspect and maintain ENERCON vehicles prior to use.
- Travel regularly to support other wind farms in the region or elsewhere in Canada.
- Perform all daily tasks in strict compliance with ENERCON’s quality and safety standards.
Requirements
- Technical diploma or certification in electromechanics, electrical technology, or wind turbine maintenance.
- Proven experience in electrical or mechanical maintenance.
- Industrial Electrician Journeyman – Red Seal certification required.
- Strong proficiency with computer and technological tools (MS Office applications, computers, mobile devices).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Availability for overtime, weekend on-call rotations, and occasional travel.
Skills
- Strong problem-solving skills to handle complex issues.
- Ability to work safely at heights and in confined spaces.
- Knowledge of basic first aid and high-angle rescue procedures.
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical safety standards.
- Ability to read and apply work instructions and procedures accurately.
- Ability to interpret electrical, hydraulic, and technical schematics and drawings.
- Experience working with medium-voltage switchgear and transformers.
- Thorough knowledge and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with industry standards.
