Your Daily Contribution & Impact:
Reporting to the Corporate Store Development Manager the Health and Safety Advisor is responsible for ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations across Canada for our corporate store locations.
This role involves developing and maintaining safety programs, conducting inspections, and training staff in automotive aftermarket environments where customer interaction, mechanical operations, transportation of dangerous goods, and workplace hazardous materials are daily factors.
- Ensure all store locations comply with OHS (or local equivalent), and fire safety regulations.
- Monitor the proper handling, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials such as oils, lubricants, batteries, etc.
- Conduct routine inspections of the locations
- Identify potential hazards (e.g., slip/trip risks, environmental safety, chemical exposure) and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Document findings, maintain incident logs, and follow up on preventive actions.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs for store teams.
- Review reports received by governmental organizations and implement corrective actions, if needed
- Support roll-out of health and safety initiatives and campaigns across locations.
- Maintain records of training, inspections, incidents, and regulatory filings.
- Act as a resource to store leaders for safety-related concerns.
- Coordinate with HR and store operations to align health and safety objectives with business goals.
Expertise & Essential Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- CHSC, CRSP, or other relevant certification. (Asset)
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a safety role, ideally in automotive, distribution, transportation, and/or muti-site environments.
- Strong communication (oral and written), training, and auditing skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications and safety reporting systems
- Ability to travel between multiple locations through-out Canada.
- Bilingualism English & French required
