Job Overview
As part of a close-bonded Credit Union, working Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm, the MSR is an integral part of our team. This position requires excellent customer focus and the ability to effectively assess and execute members' financial needs. The MSR is accountable for personal and branch assigned goals as well as assisting with the direction and administration of branch operations. This role ensures established policies and procedures are followed, oversees the provision of a full range of services to members and assists branch staff as required. This position requires strong organizational and communication skills while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Our Branches consist of 3-5 dynamic team members, and we welcome those looking to contribute to a community focused, collaborative team where an impact can be made through building strong relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and grow professional business relations with members while maintaining strict confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Promote the benefits of membership and suggest products tailored to improve financial well-being.
- Proactively identify opportunities to refer products and services to deepen relationships, increase wallet share, and meet assigned goals.
- Assist in developing strategies to attract new members, enhance community involvement, and improve the overall member experience.
- Assist in overseeing daily branch operations to ensure compliance with Credit Union policies, legal requirements, and audit standards.
- Maintain branch security by following established procedures and assisting with the opening and closing of the branch.
- Complete required reports and transactions accurately, ensuring all transactions are processed in accordance with FINTRAC requirements and internal Credit Union policies.
- Maintain thorough records of all teller transactions and proper handling of all negotiable items.
- Assume full responsibility for the security and balancing of the assigned cash drawer.
- Monitor cash holdings to ensure limits are not exceeded and strictly follow vault security procedures.
- Contribute to a positive, team-oriented workspace by taking the initiative to improve the member experience and escalate concerns to the appropriate channels.
- Maintain a safe work environment for both staff and members.
- Provide support to other branch locations or the Member Solutions Centre as required, including working extended hours when necessary.
- Responsible for staying up to date on all Credit Union policies, procedures, and training, to ensure compliance.
- Being a contributing member of various committees as needed, serving on the Social Committee, the Joint Health & Safety Committee, becoming a Fire Warden, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience within a financial institution (credit union is preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication with a genuine desire to help members improve their financial literacy.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and correct discrepancies and outages.
- Knowledge of branch operations within a financial institution.
- Strong computer literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams)
- Education: High School Diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Business preferred.
