Company Overview
Hands on Exotics provides educational & interactive animal outreach across the GTA (and further). We visit birthday parties, retirement & nursing homes, perform at corporate events, children's camps, and other varied settings.
Animal Caretaker:
- Care for a variety of animals including: mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds, and invertebrates, providing them water, food, and cleaning
- Provide animals with regular grooming, including: bathing, brushing, trimming fur, feathers, and nails
- Occasionally provide animals with additional care such as administering topical or oral medications
- Must be comfortable handling a variety of animals as cleaning their enclosures often requires direct interaction (sometimes removed/placed back into their enclosure)
- Must be comfortable handling animal feces/urine
- Must be comfortable with higher noise levels due to the variety of birds we keep
- Must be comfortable around snakes and their food (F/T rodents)
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
Animal Educator:
- Present to groups up to ~100 kids/adults on a variety of animal species (providing facts on each of the animals, background information, their care, and conservation status)
- Always follow safe animal handling protocols
- Be responsible for packing/unpacking the animals that are needed and ensure their well-being throughout the day
- Need to have a car or access to a car that can be used on a regular basis for animal transport
- Must be comfortable with speaking in front of a crowd
OTHER NOTES:
We work with many species of furry animals, including cats (allergens)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$23.00 per hour
