Canadian International Student Services (CISS) is currently looking for a Camp Counsellor for its downtown Toronto ESL Summer Programme. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, responsible, and compassionate leader who actively engages campers and confidently guides them through new experiences while managing challenges effectively.
This is a full-time contract position from June 23 to July 25, 2026.
Counsellors are required to live on-site at a University of Toronto residence with other staff and students for the duration of their contract.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Leading and participating in camp activities, sports, and excursions
- Supervising campers and ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment
- Assisting with conflict resolution and behaviour management
- Acting as a positive role model and mentor for students
Qualifications
- Experience working with youth in a residential camp setting
- Enthusiastic, responsible, and adaptable personality
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification
- Ability to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) or Criminal Record Check (CRC)
- Must be at least 19 years of age
Work Schedule
Due to the nature of the role, there are no fixed working hours, though counsellors typically work afternoons and evenings. Counsellors receive one day off per week.
Compensation
- $770 per week
