OVERVIEW:
The Children, Youth and Families Leader is responsible for programming for children, youth and families at Norval United Church (NUC). The Leader will collaborate with our Lead Minister and volunteer teams and will bring positive energy and enthusiasm for connecting with young people and nurturing their faith journey.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Nurture spiritual growth, facilitate fellowship and foster community engagement:
· Develop and implement Sunday morning programs for children, youth and families.
· Plan and coordinate youth led worship services (approx.) 4 times a year.
· Work with summer camp leadership to build relationships and engage camp families with NUC.
· Develop and implement regular youth group meetings through the week.
· Provide care and support to children, youth and families and communicate with the Lead Minister so that follow up pastoral care can be provided.
· Recruit, train and support effective lay leaders as needed from within the congregation.
· Work with other leaders to engage and integrate youth into broader congregational activities, e.g., create opportunities for inter-generational activities which benefit children and youth.
· Network with other youth leaders in the wider church and community to engage a wide web of support and opportunities for youth.
· Prepare reports for church leadership, keep a record of children and youth involvement, and monitor outcome of programming.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
· This position is open to a Christian individual with relevant education, training, and experience in working with children, youth, and families.
· Has demonstrated experience in planning, development and implementation of child, youth and family programs.
· Must understand the theology of the United Church of Canada and agree with, strive to promote, and work under, the Vision, Mission, Core Values and Statement of Inclusion of Norval United Church.
· Must be flexible with respect to duties and responsibilities as Norval United Church grows and adapts its structure to meet emergent needs and opportunities.
· Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Must have strong organization and implementation skills.
· Must have social media proficiency.
· Must be relatable, welcoming, caring, forgiving, and authentic.
· Demonstrated capacity to serve as an advocate for children and youth.
· Must be able to work collaboratively and independently once provided with direction, and able to manage time effectively.
· A current vulnerable sector check.
· Must be able to travel locally (within Georgetown and surrounding area) for meetings with children, youth, and families as well as other church business.
WORKING HOURS:
20 hours per week. Must be available to work evenings and weekends. This position requires the individual to be primarily on-site (including, but not limited to, Sunday morning), with the remaining time including travel to off-site community events, and some work that may be done remotely.
ACCOUNTABILITY: This team member will be supervised by our Lead Minister. Ultimately this team member is accountable to the Executive Committee of Norval United Church in all matters except discipline. In matters of discipline, the person is accountable to the regional council. The Ministry and Personnel Committee of Norval United Church will appoint a liaison person to support and encourage the Youth Leader.
Pay: $25.00-$26.00 per hour
