About the Role
Our Vancouver office is seeking a motivated Junior Field Engineer for a 6‑month temporary position. This role is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals with a background in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Engineering Geology who are interested in gaining hands-on field experience on infrastructure and geotechnical projects.
You will work under the supervision of senior engineers and project managers, supporting field investigations, construction monitoring, and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Field Investigations:
- Assist with planning and executing field investigations (e.g., drilling, test pits, sampling, in-situ testing)
- Prepare clear and accurate field notes, logs, sketches, and daily reports
- Collect, label, and manage soil, rock, and other material samples; coordinate laboratory testing
- Assist with instrumentation installation and monitoring (e.g., piezometers, inclinometers, settlement plates)
Construction Monitoring
- Conduct field inspections and monitoring for earthworks, foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and related civil/geotechnical works
· Prepare clear and accurate field notes, logs, sketches, and daily reports
- Communicate field observations and issues promptly to the supervising engineer or project manager
General
- Follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures and contribute to a strong safety culture
- Support data compilation, analysis, and preparation of figures, tables, and input for technical reports
- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of project and office needs
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a closely related discipline
- 0–3 years of relevant experience (co-op or internship experience the field or construction environments is an asset)
- Understanding of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, and/or geotechnical engineering general principles
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with CAD or GIS considered an asset
- Valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Skills & Attributes
- Willingness and physical ability to work outdoors or construction sites in varied weather, remote locations with uneven terrain, and site conditions
- Strong technical writing and documentation skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality
- Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team and with contractors/clients on site
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage time and multiple tasks in a fast-paced project environment
Work Conditions
- This is a temporary, full-time position (approximately 6 months), based in our Vancouver office
- Field work is required and may include extended or irregular hours, weekends, and travel within BC and potentially other regions

Pay: $6,000.00-$7,000.00 per month
