Phoenix Building Components is currently seeking candidates at the intermediate to senior level to join our technical design team. We are one of Ontario's fastest growing manufacturers and wholesale distributors of engineered wood building products. Reporting directly to the Sales Manager, the Technical Designer will be responsible for all aspects of component design. He or she will be expected to competently, and with supervision, execute the following tasks (based on level of experience);
- Complete accurate and competitive job estimation and quotes for customers.
- Design, layout and prepare drawings for trusses and related products
- Job ordering and production preparation.
- Ensure accurate and complete roof and floor systems designs.
- Interact with and solve problems with customers and sales staff
- Coordinate efforts with engineering staff
- Design field repair details as needed
- Jobsite and customer visits as required
- Supply technical advice to building supply yards and contractors
- Maintain superior knowledge of all products manufactured and distributed by Phoenix Building Components
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Architecture or Engineering OR relevant construction experience, combined with a non-related Degree/Diploma
- 4 plus years experience in roof truss design or building construction, coupled with a solid understanding of engineered floor system design and layout
- Hands-on building or framing experience a strong asset
- Full understanding of building code requirements
- Flexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of development
- Strong communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in architectural drawing principals, technical math and the principals of design
- Proficiency in Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD 2000 (or level 14)
- Experience in the following software an asset:
- MiTek Sapphire or Management
- EZ-CAD Wood-I program

Pay: $64,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
