Okanagan Urban Contractors Inc. is a full-service construction company specializing in new custom home construction, renovations, and commercial tenant improvements throughout the Okanagan Valley and beyond. We are currently hiring Carpenters and Lead Hand Carpenters who are motivated, skilled, and ready to grow with a supportive, expanding company.
Schedule:
- Day shift, Monday–Friday
- Weekends OFF
- Year-round, full-time work
- Travel time paid for sites outside Kelowna
ROLE SUMMARY
As a Carpenter or Lead Hand Carpenter, you will work on new custom home construction and renovations. Lead Hands will oversee site activities and coordinate crews, while all carpenters are expected to deliver high-quality work safely, efficiently, and professionally.
You’ll work alongside a team of experienced tradespeople who value craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform carpentry tasks including framing, installation, finishing, and millwork
- Install cabinets, doors, windows, and other fixtures
- Read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized job site
- Follow all building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
Additional Responsibilities for Lead Hand Carpenter:
- Lead and coordinate construction projects from start to finish
- Supervise and work alongside carpenters, labourers, and subcontractors
- Conduct regular site inspections and resolve issues proactively
- Oversee material ordering, tools, and equipment
- Mentor and train junior carpenters
- Ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standards
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in residential construction and renovations
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques, materials, and best practices
- Ability to take direction and (for Lead Hand roles) confidently lead a team
- Excellent organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
- Red Seal certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Tool pouch with basic hand tools
- Basic PPE (hard hat, safety boots, high-visibility gear)
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Be on time and ready to work
