Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook / Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of food safety and handling practices. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of our restaurant.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of ingredients for meals, including washing, chopping, and measuring.
- Follow recipes and instructions from the head chef or kitchen manager to ensure consistency in food quality.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety standards.
- Help with the setup and breakdown of the kitchen before and after service.
- Assist in inventory management by tracking stock levels of ingredients and supplies.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
- Supervise the servers to ensure timely and efficient delivery
- Participate in training sessions on food handling and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food service or as a cook in a retirement home setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of food handling techniques and food safety regulations.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new cooking techniques and recipes.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and perform tasks that require lifting or moving heavy items.
