Our client, a custom cabinet manufacturer in Edmonton, is hiring a senior Mozaik-fluent cabinet designer to own the design-to-manufacturing handoff for our residential custom cabinetry work. If you have spent years building shop drawings in Mozaik, you know what clean CNC output looks like, and you want a seat where your work directly protects margin and shop throughput, this role is built for you.
What you'll own
This is not a junior drafting role and it is not a kitchen designer role. It sits between sales and the shop floor, and the person in this seat is accountable for what comes out of the CNC machine.
- Translating approved customer designs and verified field measurements into Mozaik production files.
- Generating complete shop drawings, cut lists, hardware schedules, and CNC-ready output.
- Optimizing material yield through smart nesting and panel sequencing.
- Maintaining and growing Summit's Mozaik cabinet library so the shop runs on consistent standards.
- Partnering with Zach, our Shop Lead, on constructability and shop floor handoff.
- Backing up the sales team with 3D renderings when a visual closes the sale.
What success looks like in your first year
Summit measures this role by what it delivers, not by hours at the desk. Here is what we expect the right person to put on the board:
- Inside 30 days: three complete residential jobs through CNC output with no rework loops.
- Inside 60 days: full ownership of every active residential design file in the shop.
- Inside 90 days: shop-floor rework attributable to drafting errors held under 2%.
- Inside 6 months: a documented Mozaik standards library that any future drafter can plug into.
Why this role is worth your time
Most Mozaik operators sit inside shops where the standards library is a mess, the shop floor argues with the drawings, and nobody owns the workflow. Summit has spent the last two years rebuilding everything around it: Monday.com as the source of truth for jobs, a tight time tracking system, a strong shop floor team, and an owner who knows the difference clean drafting makes. The piece that has been missing is the senior Mozaik operator who owns the workflow.
You walk into a shop where the operations are already built. Your job is to bring the design output up to match. There is real autonomy in the role and a clear runway: get the residential workflow dialed, then expand into the two adjacent divisions Summit runs out of the same building. If you have ever wanted to define how a shop drafts rather than inherit somebody else's mess, this is that seat.
Who we want to talk to
We are looking for someone with the depth and the temperament for this work. Specifically:
- Three-plus years of Mozaik experience in a production cabinet shop, not just a showroom or design retail setting.
- Strong working knowledge of cabinet construction across frameless and face-frame builds.
- Comfort producing CNC-ready output and partnering with the operator running the machine.
- Attention to detail that shows up in the drawings, not just on the resume.
- Ability to work in a shop environment full-time, not remote or hybrid.
- You do not need a long list of certifications. You need the work to back you up. If you can walk us through a Mozaik portfolio and tell us how you handled the last rework loop you caused, you are the kind of person we want to meet.
