Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in preparing accurate project cost estimates, supporting project planning, and ensuring competitive pricing for our construction projects. This position offers an opportunity to work on diverse projects within a collaborative environment, utilizing advanced estimating tools and techniques. The Construction Estimator will be integral in driving project success through precise budgeting and strategic negotiation.
Duties
- Prepare detailed construction cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam to develop accurate pricing models.
- Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather competitive pricing and negotiate terms.
- Develop comprehensive bid proposals that include labor, materials, equipment, and overhead costs.
- Review project scopes and identify potential risks or cost-saving opportunities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction industry trends, material costs, and labor rates.
- Assist in the development of project schedules and resource planning based on estimates.
- Support project management teams throughout the bidding process and during project execution as needed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- Proficiency with estimating or project management software.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Strong project management abilities to coordinate multiple bids and deadlines effectively.
- Knowledge of pricing strategies within the construction industry to ensure competitive yet profitable bids.
- Ability to interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners.
- A background in construction or related field is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
