Position Summary for Truck Swamper
Recycling Alternative (RA) is launching new Multi-Unit Residential recycling collection services in Downtown Vancouver and False Creek in early 2026. We are hiring dependable, physically capable Truck Swampers to support our drivers on residential recycling routes.
This is a hands-on, outdoor role involving frequent lifting and movement of recycling carts. You’ll work closely with the driver to ensure safe, efficient, and contamination-aware collection.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the driver on residential recycling collection routes
- Load and unload recycling carts and materials (physical work)
- Monitor materials for contamination and report issues
- Help guide the truck in tight or busy areas when required
- Maintain cleanliness around collection areas and the vehicle
- Communicate clearly with the driver and dispatch
- Follow safety procedures and recycling best practices
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance
Qualifications
- Physically able to regularly move wheeled carts up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Strong communication skills
- Previous labour, recycling, or waste experience is an asset (not required)
- Interest in long-term growth and skill development is an asset

Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday to Thursday - 4x10 hour shifts
- Occasional overtime may be required
