Experience in a cafe is essential. Preference given to those who have had experience in specialty coffee, dialling in espresso and filter coffee and have supervisory experience.

This is a dynamic role for someone who is passionate about specialty coffee and learning more about the industry, as well as working with a team to deliver great service and great quality coffee. Our Yukon location is home to fantastic regulars and a great team. Help serve coffee from renowned roasters, including; Moving Coffee, Rooftop Coffee, Subtext, Rogue Wave and many more. And work with renowned Canadian roasters as part of our dynamic and ever-changing pour over line up.
Work with our Head of Coffee to refine your sensory skills and build your coffee theory knowledge, build your operational experience and develop people management skills. This role requires someone who is willing to learn, manage a team of Baristas as well as with our Store Managers to meet store objectives.
We are looking for someone who has worked in Specialty Coffee for at least two years and has some experience in a supervisory role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Operations
1. Provide exceptional customer experience and be an example of the company’s service standard
2. Read the room and take customer cues to address issues
3. Support Front of House team with bussing and cleaning as needed
4. Monitor how individuals are doing with speed of service and give feedback to achieve our target goals
5. Minimize bar out-of-stock supplies and small wares by keeping track of what is needed and communicate to Store Manager
6. Support the manager with inventory taking and receiving procedures
Equipment maintenance
1. Maintain and troubleshoot all bar equipment issues by communicating with the Head of Coffee and Store Manager. This may include scheduling preventative maintenance or providing first line maintenance with the support of Head of Coffee.
2. Regular daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly cleaning of all bar equipment
3. Regularly communicate issues or challenges with Head of Coffee and Store Manager
Training
1. Support the training of new bar staff. This includes providing ongoing support and training to ensure consistency, quality and appropriate workflow procedures.
2. Provide on-going training with staff, and follow up is continuous, supported by the Head of Coffee.
Quality Assurance
1. Using methods of measurement and tools in place to ensure quality and consistency
2. Take part in training and mentorship from Head of Coffee to improve understanding and knowledge of equipment and quality control measures
3. With direction/support from Store Manager, reduce the number of errors and waste on bar
4. Communicate all quality issues to Head of Coffee and Store Manager in a timely manner
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.50-$20.50 per hour
