We're looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and hands-on Operations Manager to become an integral part of our leadership team. This is a unique opportunity to grow alongside a small business and make a meaningful impact on its future.
About the Role
This is a working leadership position.
While you'll oversee many aspects of our day-to-day operations, you'll also spend a significant amount of your time working as a barista and leading shifts at both our café and coffee trailer.
As a seasonal business, responsibilities naturally evolve throughout the year. During our busiest months, your focus will be on leading the floor, serving customers, supporting the team, and maintaining exceptional standards. During quieter periods, you'll have more time to focus on planning, organization, hiring, inventory, marketing, and business development.
No two days are exactly alike, and we're looking for someone who enjoys that variety.
ResponsibilitiesDaily Operations
- Lead shifts at both the café and coffee trailer.
- Prepare high-quality beverages and food while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ensure both locations are consistently clean, organized, stocked, and operating efficiently.
- Maintain Canter Coffee's standards for quality, cleanliness, and hospitality.
- Handle customer concerns professionally and confidently.
- Open and close locations when required.
Leadership
- Lead by example and foster a positive, supportive team environment.
- Act as the primary point of contact for staff during day-to-day operations.
- Coach and support employees to help them grow and succeed.
- Assist with onboarding and training new team members.
- Help recruit and interview new employees as needed.
Scheduling & Administration
- Create and manage staff schedules.
- Approve and coordinate time-off requests.
- Communicate schedule updates and operational information with the team.
- Help improve systems, procedures, and overall efficiency.
- Support ownership with administrative tasks and special projects.
Inventory & Purchasing
- Complete regular inventory counts.
- Monitor stock levels and place supplier orders.
- Receive and organize deliveries.
- Ensure products and supplies are available at both locations.
- Minimize waste through effective inventory management.
Marketing & Business Growth
- Help plan and launch seasonal drink features.
- Photograph beverages, baked goods, and daily café life.
- Assist with creating social media content and promotional posts.
- Help maintain a consistent and professional brand presence.
- Contribute ideas to improve customer experience and grow the business.
General Support
- Run occasional business errands or pick up supplies.
- Assist wherever needed to support daily operations.
- Adapt to changing priorities throughout the seasons.
- Be willing to jump in, whether that's making drinks during a rush, washing dishes, restocking supplies, or solving unexpected challenges.

- Has previous leadership or management experience.
- Is passionate about coffee, hospitality, and creating memorable customer experiences.
- Is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Takes initiative and enjoys solving problems independently.
- Has excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Enjoys working both independently and as part of a team.
- Is comfortable using social media and creating engaging content.
- Has a valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Is available to work weekdays, weekends, and occasional holidays as required.
