We are seeking a highly organized, full-time Legal Bookkeeper to join our legal team located in Courtenay on Vancouver Island. You will manage the day-to-day financial operations of our practice, ensuring 100% accuracy and strict regulatory compliance.
- Trust Accounting: Maintain client trust ledgers and ensure all transactions comply fully with the Law Society of British Columbia guidelines.
- Full-Cycle Accounting: Process accounts payable, accounts receivable;
- Billing & Disbursements: Process pre-bills, generate client invoices, and handle disbursements through systems like BC Online and BC Land Title.
- Reconciliation & Reporting: Reconcile trust and general bank accounts, process tax remittances (GST/PST), and prepare month-end/year-end working papers for external accountants.
- Firm Administration: Support general office administration, vendor management, and trust compliance audits
- Qualifications & Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of accounting experience, specifically within a BC law firm.
- Advanced, hands-on knowledge of Law Society of B.C. trust accounting rules.
- Proficiency in legal accounting software (e.g., Soluno/PC law or similar software);
- Strong attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and ability to handle confidential information.
- Completion of a recognized Accounting or Bookkeeping diploma/certificate.
