Position Summary
Salem Manor Nursing Home is seeking compassionate and reliable Health Care Aide (HCAs) to join our team. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the HCA provides personal care and support to residents, promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life in an assisted living environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, resident-centered personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and oral hygiene.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using safe body mechanics and mechanical lifting equipment.
- Support residents with eating, hydration, and other activities of daily living (ADLs) in accordance with individualized care plans.
- Observe, document, and promptly report changes in residents' physical, emotional, or cognitive condition to the nursing team.
- Foster residents' dignity, independence, privacy, and quality of life through respectful, person-centred care.
- Build positive and professional relationships with residents, families, visitors, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while adhering to infection prevention and control practices.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in accordance with organizational policies and professional standards.
- Participate in team meetings, education, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Perform other duties within the scope of the Health Care Aide role as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide program
- Current and Active registration with the CLHA without condition is mandatory
- Experience in Assisted Living or Long-Term Care preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically able to meet the demands of the role
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, or weekends as needed
Schedule
Availability to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays, based on operational needs.
