The successful candidate will have the autonomy to manage priorities independently, anticipate next steps, and provide exceptional administrative and litigation support. About The Position
Reporting directly to an experienced Lawyer, the Senior Legal Assistant will play an integral role in supporting a busy civil litigation practice. This position is responsible for managing files from opening through to completion, coordinating with clients, courts, and opposing counsel, preparing legal documentation, monitoring litigation deadlines, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and confident working independently while providing exceptional administrative and litigation support in a fast-paced environment.
The Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of civil litigation legal assistant experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing litigation files from opening through to completion.
- Strong experience supporting a lawyer in a dedicated one-to-one practice model.
- Thorough understanding of litigation procedures, timelines, court rules, and file management.
- Experience with Superior Court, Small Claims Court, Federal Court, Tribunals, Bankruptcy Court, and Commercial Court.
- Experience filing through Justice Services Online and Case Center.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat Pro, ACL/Xchangedocs, and Ghost Practice.
- Legal Assistant or Law Clerk diploma/certificate is considered an asset; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered..
Compensation
- Salary: $60,000-$85,000, commensurate with experience.
