Cochrane GM is seeking an experienced, driven, and entrepreneurial Working Detail Manager to build and lead our vehicle detailing department from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives on creating structure, driving performance, and building high-performing teams.

Key ResponsibilitiesDepartment Leadership & Development
- Build and manage the dealership's detailing department from inception.
- Recruit, train, coach, and develop a team of detail technicians.
- Create a culture focused on quality, efficiency, accountability, and customer satisfaction.
- Establish clear performance expectations, productivity goals, and quality standards.
Process Development & Operations
- Design and implement standardized detailing processes and operating procedures.
- Create workflow systems that maximize efficiency while maintaining high quality standards.
- Develop department KPIs and reporting metrics to measure productivity, quality, and profitability.
- Ensure vehicles are prepared and delivered on schedule.
Sales & Finance Collaboration
- Partner with the Sales team to ensure inventory and sold vehicles meet dealership standards.
- Collaborate with Finance Managers to develop and execute vehicle appearance protection programs.
- Support upsell opportunities including paint protection, interior protection, ceramic coatings, and other appearance products.
- Ensure all promised products and services are completed accurately and on time.
Inventory & Quality Management
- Manage detailing supplies, equipment, and vendor relationships.
- Monitor department expenses and maintain budget controls.
- Conduct final quality inspections on completed vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety standards.
QualificationsRequired Experience
- 3+ years of automotive detailing, leadership or management experience.
- Power Polishing and paint touch ups
- Training staff on detailing and quality control
- Proven experience managing teams and driving performance.
- Strong understanding of automotive reconditioning and detailing processes.
- Experience developing operational procedures and performance standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and build teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience implementing flat-rate or production-based compensation systems.
- Previous dealership experience.
- Knowledge of appearance protection products and related sales opportunities.
- Strong understanding of inventory management and dealership operations.
