Position Title: Rescue Technician

Position Summary
The Rescue Technician plays a critical role in supporting the safety of personnel during industrial projects, shutdowns, turnarounds, and maintenance activities. Working as part of a rescue team, Rescue Technicians provide emergency response, technical rescue, and standby safety services at client sites across Western Canada.
Rescue Technicians are responsible for maintaining a constant state of readiness to respond to workplace emergencies while supporting safe work practices through standby services and hazard monitoring. This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, physical fitness, and the ability to perform effectively in demanding industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Providing emergency medical care within the scope of their training and certification.
- Responding to and participating in confined space rescue operations.
- Responding to and participating in high angle (rope) rescue operations.
- Performing standby safety duties, including Confined Space Standby, Fire Watch, Bottle Watch, and other site-specific safety roles as required.
- Maintaining rescue equipment and ensuring operational readiness.
- Completing all required reports, inspections, and documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Following company policies, client procedures, and all applicable health and safety legislation.
- Maintaining a high level of professionalism while representing Elite Safety Services at client sites.

Required Qualifications
Applicants must possess:
- Standard First Aid with CPR-C (minimum requirement).
Successful candidates must also be willing to obtain and maintain additional company-provided training and certifications as required, including:
- Site-specific orientations
- Confined Space Entry
- Confined Space Rescue / Technical Rescue
- High Angle Rescue
- Fire Watch
- Bottle Watch
- Standby Worker
- Additional client- or project-specific training as required.
Assets
Preference may be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following:
- Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Primary Care Paramedic (PCP), Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), or equivalent medical certification
- Confined Space Entry and Rescue certification
- High Angle (Rope) Rescue certification
- NFPA Technical Rescue training
- H2S Alive®, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), or CSTS 2020
- Fall Protection, Elevated Work Platform (MEWP), or Scaffold User certification
- Incident Command System (ICS) training
- Valid Class 1, 3, or 4 driver's licence
- Experience working in industrial, construction, mining, oil and gas, or manufacturing environments
- Previous experience as an industrial rescue technician, firefighter, or emergency responder
- Experience with breathing apparatus (SCBA/SABA), gas detection equipment, and rescue equipment
- Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work extended shifts, overtime, and rotational schedules
Conditions of Employment
Successful candidates must:
- Be at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada.
- Demonstrate strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Have completed Grade 12 (or equivalent).
- Hold a valid Class 5 driver's licence with an acceptable driving record.
- Be willing and able to travel and work at client sites throughout Western Canada.
- Successfully complete a Criminal Record Check.
- Successfully complete pre-employment and site-specific Drug and Alcohol Testing, where required.
- Have schedule flexibility to meet client’s emergency needs and schedule changes.
Work Environment
This position involves working in a variety of industrial environments, including construction sites, manufacturing facilities, mines, refineries, and other heavy industrial settings. Work may include extended shifts, nights, weekends, outdoor environments, adverse weather conditions, confined spaces, elevated work areas, and physically demanding tasks while wearing personal protective equipment and rescue gear.
All employees of Elite Safety Services Inc. are covered under company General Liability Insurance and Manitoba WCB coverage while performing assigned duties.
