Halifax Independent School, a co-educational day school for pre-primary to grade 9, is seeking a full-time Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director for the upcoming academic year.

Basic Qualifications: B.Ed. (with relevant teachables)
Conditions of Employment include:
- NS Regular Teaching Certificate or equivalent
- Confirmation of legal entitlement to work in Canada
- Nova Scotia Child Abuse Registry check, or equivalent (dated August 2025 or later)
- Vulnerable Sector Search (dated August 2025 or later)
- Valid First Aid Certification (Standard First Aid AED CPR C)
Candidates should have successful experience in teaching and planning in Phys. Ed. in the Elementary/Middle School years, and should demonstrate leadership in student athletics. Candidates must exhibit an authentic passion and enthusiasm for progressive education, demonstrate sensitivity to children’s differences, and understand the importance of developing strong working relationships with families. They must be self-motivated, life-long learners who are willing to work in an intellectually demanding setting with high expectations. The position involves working in close collaboration with colleagues; strong communication skills with an openness to ideas and perspectives are essential. We value partnering across disciplines and grade levels, so broad experience is advantageous.
