Who We Are Looking For
This role provides independent oversight of court maintenance operations, ensuring all playing surfaces and facilities meet Toronto Lawn Tennis Club’s standards of excellence. We are looking for a highly organized, dependable, and self motivated, you are comfortable working independently with minimal supervision and take pride in delivering consistent, high quality results. You bring strong hands on leadership, along with outdoor experience in groundskeeping, maintenance or landscaping, and a willingness to work outside in varying conditions, ensuring reliable and efficient court maintenance operations.
As the ideal candidate, you bring a strong sense of ownership and a proactive, detail focused approach to maintaining exceptional court conditions and overall outdoor facility presentation. You support high standards by independently overseeing maintenance operations, ensuring all tennis courts and surrounding areas consistently meet Toronto Lawn Tennis Club’s expectations of excellence. You are adaptable, reliable, and comfortable working under low supervision, with the ability to anticipate needs, address issues quickly, and contribute to a safe, clean, and exceptional member experience.
Total Compensation Package
Total compensation is valued at $87,997 and includes an annual base salary, group health benefits, fitness reimbursement, paid breaks, paid personal emergency days, daily staff meals, a career development fund, and a monthly cell phone reimbursement.
Reports To: Manager, Facilities
Direct Reports: Court Maintenance Team
Hours of Work
40+ hours per week, with scheduling flexibility.
Experience
Minimum 2 to 3 years of hands-on supervisory experience in a tennis court maintenance, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance role, including surface preparation, and general grounds maintenance, along with experience working in outdoor, physically demanding environments with exposure to varying weather conditions.
Education and Credentials
- High school Diploma
- Private club or hospitality experience is an asset.
What a Typical Day Looks Like
A typical day includes overseeing court maintenance operations, following maintenance schedules, and ensuring all courts and surrounding areas are prepared to the highest standards for daily play. You will lead, support, and provide guidance to court maintenance staff as applicable, while taking full ownership of site operations during your shift and holding yourself and others accountable for quality and efficiency.
Daily responsibilities include executing and supervising court maintenance activities such as sweeping, lining, watering, rolling, leveling, and top dressing, along with performing repairs including scarifying, line work, and clay surface restoration. You will monitor court conditions, irrigation systems, and weather impacts to maintain optimal playability, while ensuring all equipment and maintenance areas are organized, safe, and fully operational.
You will also support general groundskeeping and facility upkeep, including maintaining cleanliness and presentation of courts, viewing areas, pathways, and surrounding spaces. Ongoing responsibilities include identifying operational improvements, addressing issues proactively, documenting completed work and outstanding items, and communicating updates to relevant departments to ensure a seamless and exceptional member experience.
