Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Procurement Specialist to support our Operations, Planning and Scheduling team. This role plays an important part in ensuring our production and operations teams have the materials they need, when they need them. From coordinating purchase orders and maintaining accurate purchasing data to communicating with suppliers and monitoring backorders, the successful candidate helps keep our supply chain running smoothly.
Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager, buyers, suppliers, and internal teams, the ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with data, and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and building positive working relationships. This is a current opening on our team.
Primary responsibilities:
· Negotiate pricing for materials and services
· From production plans, schedules and inventory levels, determine required quantities of materials and timing to meet production requirements
· Create purchase orders (POs) to meet production and operation requirements.
· Pro-actively communicating with suppliers and providing updates to internal departments.
· Responsible for detailed and accurate data entry for department.
· Responsible for maintaining excel spreadsheets for the department.
· Ensures the confidentiality of data collected and stored is maintained.
· Work closely with vendors and maintain positive relationships.
· Providing purchasing, planning, and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends
· Review and follow up on supplier back orders on a daily/weekly basis.
· Additional tasks as required.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who brings a combination of technical skills, organization, and a proactive approach to their work.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a purchasing, planning, inventory role. Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in a related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize, interpret, and maintain large volumes of data.
- Have experience negotiating prices and terms with suppliers
- Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX (or a similar ERP system) is considered an asset.
- Experience in residential or commercial building products is considered an asset.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered an asset.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and commitment to attendance and accountability.
