Technical Writer:
On behalf of our Utilities client, Procom is searching for a Technical Writer for a 6-month role. This position is a remote position, with occasional site visits required at our client’s Newmarket, Ontario office.
Technical Writer - Job Description:
The Technical Writer will be responsible for preparing, editing, and formatting business documentation for clients, internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors. This role involves working closely with subject matter experts to ensure clarity and accuracy in documentation, as well as participating in client discovery sessions to gather essential information.
Technical Writer - Responsibilities:
- Attend onsite client discovery sessions, document discussion topics, and identify key decisions and follow-up items.
- Prepare recommendation reports or presentations in conjunction with internal subject matter experts.
- Develop RFP, procurement, and evaluation documents for utility clients.
- Record technical requirements for internal and external projects or reports.
- Draft reports using established document standards and templates.
- Work with subject matter experts to refine and finalize reports.
- Record notes in business process sessions and debrief with the internal lead.
- Prepare business process documents, diagrams, and flow charts for clients that are re-engineering their business processes.
- Prepare, format, and edit pricing spreadsheets, requirements matrices, and consensus spreadsheets.
- Create presentations on a variety of subjects for internal and external projects.
Technical Writer - Mandatory Skills:
- Bachelor of Communications or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in the Utility industry in a consulting, operations, or vendor capacity
- 3-5 years of technical writing experience
- Advanced MS Office skills
- Intermediate Adobe Acrobat skills
- Expert knowledge of company documentation standards
- Advanced knowledge of metering infrastructure and related utility systems
Technical Writer – Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Intermediate knowledge of the utility industry, operations, and regulatory considerations
- Intermediate knowledge of company policies, processes, and practices
- Intermediate knowledge of contract documentation, including Statements of Work and Master Service Agreements
Technical Writer – Assignment Length:
This is a 6-month contract position.
