Job Summary
We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Dispatcher to coordinate transportation and logistics operations within our supply chain. The ideal candidate will manage freight movements, communicate effectively with drivers and clients, and utilize various transportation management systems to ensure timely delivery and efficient operations. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment supporting shipping, receiving, and supply chain functions.
Duties
- Schedule and dispatch freight shipments using Transportation Management Systems.
- Coordinate with drivers, carriers, and clients to ensure timely pickup and delivery of goods.
- Manage shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and data entry related to freight movements.
- Monitor freight status, troubleshoot issues, and communicate updates through multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette.
- Analyze logistics data to optimize routes, reduce delays, and improve overall efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, shipment details, and related documentation.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to support 3PL operations and enhance freight management strategies.
- Perform analysis on shipping data to identify trends or areas for process improvement.
Skills
- Proficiency in software such as SAP, Salesforce, similar platforms.
- Strong understanding of supply chain processes and freight logistics.
- Experience working with 3PL providers and managing shipping & receiving functions.
- Excellent data entry skills with high typing speed for accurate record keeping.
- Strong analysis skills to interpret logistics data and improve dispatch operations.
- Effective communication skills, including phone etiquette and clear verbal articulation.
- Ability to operate multi-line phone systems efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with shipping documentation, freight regulations, and related compliance standards. This position requires a proactive individual capable of multitasking in a busy logistics environment while maintaining professionalism in communication and data management. Prior experience with transportation management software is highly desirable for success in this role.
