We are seeking a caring and responsible Babysitter/Nanny (Family Assistant) to provide attentive childcare and support in a safe, nurturing environment. Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage children in age-appropriate activities to promote learning and development
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, ensuring dietary needs are met
- Assist with meal preparation and clean-up after children’s meals
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, including tidying up toys, clothes, and play areas
- Provide caregiving support tailored to children’s individual needs, including working with children with disabilities if applicable
- Support children with homework or educational activities, encouraging curiosity and learning
- Ensure safety at all times by monitoring children closely during play, outings, and daily routines
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress, behavior, and any concerns
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in a caregiving or educational setting is preferred
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities is a plus but not required
- Skills in cooking and meal preparation for children are desirable
- Demonstrated ability to handle caregiving responsibilities with patience, compassion, and professionalism
- Knowledge of basic cleaning routines related to childcare environments is beneficial
You will be employed through a company, receive T4 earnings and accrued vacation. We will not be in a position to consider any "cash-paid" applicants.
Must be comfortable caring for two young children (3 and under)
First and foremost, our family assistant would be responsible for the care of our daughter during the days of the week she is not in her program. As of right now, that would be regularly every Thursday and Friday. The remainder of the schedule would be somewhat flexible - although I would expect the majority of work weeks to be Monday-Friday. There may be the occasional Saturday and/or Sunday when coverage needs arise.
Ideal availability would be Monday-Wed from 7-12, Thursday and Friday 7-3 - starting at 31 hours a week.
Outside of those specific childcare hours, we are looking for someone to maintain the home ensuring day to day organization, cleaning and maintaining, laundry and other household requests (shopping, errands, etc as well). A vehicle may be available for use - although the ideal candidate would have access to their own. We live in Oak Bluff which does not have public transit available. We would offer to pay mileage for when a personal vehicle is used.
There would be limited meal prep required (for the toddler only)
An ideal candidate for us would have 5+ years working with young children, a flexible schedule, is able to travel (passport) and comes with very few "attachments". Any candidate must be comfortable with household pets. A bonus would be for a bilingual candidate that could encourage additional language skills.
We are a high energy family and would expect the same from any candidate.
