POSITION TITLE: Community Health Representative Clerk – Full-Time Permanent
Position Description: Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Health Centre Manager, the Community Health Representative Clerk (CHR Clerk) provides administrative and clerical support to assist in the delivery of Health Centre programs and services. The CHR Clerk plays a key role in supporting medical transportation services, maintaining accurate records, assisting community members in accessing health-related services, and contributing to the overall operation of the Health Centre.
Responsibilities
- Complete monthly invoices and billing submissions to Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) and other service providers for medical transportation and travel-related services.
- Coordinate and arrange medical travel and accommodations for eligible Fort William First Nation registered members.
- Provide information, guidance, and assistance regarding medical transportation programs, processes, and eligibility requirements to registered and non-registered Fort William First Nation members.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of services provided, transportation requests, approvals, and related documentation.
- Operate and maintain office equipment, including photocopiers, fax machines, postage machines, and other office technology.
- Advocate on behalf of First Nation members and liaise with health care providers, transportation providers, funding agencies, and external organizations to support access to services.
- Prepare and submit reports to funding agencies and other stakeholders as required.
- Promote awareness and understanding of medical transportation processes and eligible services available through NIHB and other programs.
- Provide administrative support for Health Centre programs, services, and special initiatives.
- Assist with reception duties, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, directing clients, and scheduling appointments as required.
- Provide administrative support for the Elders Assistance Program including record maintenance, reimbursement processing, and responding to program inquiries.
- Support emergency response activities and community emergency preparedness initiatives as required.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Health Services Team and participate in team meetings, training opportunities, and departmental activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with all applicable policies, procedures, privacy legislation, and professional standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Secondary school diploma required.
- Post-secondary education in Office Administration, Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Experience in administrative support, medical transportation coordination, health services, or a related field is preferred.
- Knowledge of Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Medical Transportation policies and procedures is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational, time management, and record-keeping skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Fort William First Nation programs, services, and community resources is considered an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Manual dexterity required to operate a computer.
- Interact with employees, management, community members and related agencies
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Overtime may be required
- Travel may be required
- On-Call as needed
