Carpenter – Brand Activations & Custom Fabrication

Position Summary
The Carpenter is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, installation, and dismantling of custom structures, displays, and experiential environments for live events, trade shows, retail activations, and marketing campaigns. This role combines both rough and finish carpentry skills to produce high-quality custom builds while meeting demanding production schedules. The successful candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in exceptional craftsmanship, and is adaptable to changing project requirements and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Build custom displays, experiential environments, event sets, retail fixtures, and promotional installations from construction drawings and shop plans.
- Perform both rough and finish carpentry, including framing, cabinetry, trim work, panel fabrication, laminate installation, and detailed finishing.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and install components using wood, plywood, MDF, plastics, aluminum, and other construction materials.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, shop drawings, and production specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
- Operate woodworking machinery and hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Work collaboratively with production, graphics, paint, logistics, and project management teams to deliver completed projects on schedule.
- Assist with on-site installation, modifications, repairs, and dismantling of displays and activation structures as required.
- Identify and resolve fabrication challenges while maintaining project quality and deadlines.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets company quality standards and client expectations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company health and safety policies.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of carpentry experience in commercial construction, custom fabrication, cabinetry, scenery, exhibits, millwork, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of both rough and finish carpentry techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, blueprints, and fabrication details.
- Experience operating woodworking equipment, including table saws, mitre saws, routers, planers, sanders, and other shop machinery.
- Valid driver's license is considered an asset.
- Experience with trade show exhibits, retail displays, scenic fabrication, or experiential marketing is considered a strong asset.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly and heavier materials with assistance.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.
- Comfortable working in both shop and on-site installation environments.
- Willingness to work overtime, evenings, or weekends during peak production periods and event installations.

Working Conditions
- Full-time, in-person role based at our Toronto office
- Standard hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines
- Fast-paced, collaborative environment requiring strong organizational skills
- Primarily office-based with occasional physical activity (event prep, materials handling)
- Occasional travel for client meetings, site visits, or events
