Peace Wapiti Public School Division (PWPSD) provides service to approximately 6,100 students in Junior Kindergarten through Grade 12 in 34 schools and is one of the largest employers in the Grande Prairie/Spirit River region. We are seeking candidates with high professional standards, and who have knowledge and experience in the area of inclusive education and/or student behaviour management. We invite applications for a Temporary Full-Time Behaviour Support Educational Assistant. Working as a member of the Inclusive Learning Services Team, the candidate will collaborate and work alongside school staff, and other members of the Behaviour Support Team to provide expertise to schools across the division. The EA will provide training and support alongside school staff when needed, and may work with students to provide an opportunity for professional growth time to the site staff. The team will be focused on students in grades 7-12 who require more intentional educational planning, as well as providing guidance and professional development for site staff when needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Educational Assistant Diploma is preferred
- CPR/First Aid would be considered an asset
- Experience working with children in a classroom/organized setting is preferred
- You have the ability to work as part of a team.

Training in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) or similar is an asset.

Experience with developing and implementing evidence-based interventions to promote positive behaviour.

Excellent self-regulation and ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Ability to travel to all schools within the Peace Wapiti Public School Division .

Knowledge of specialized programming and resources for students with diverse learning and behaviour needs
Assets/Skills:

Experience in Division 3 and Division 4 classroom support

Understanding of differentiated student engagement strategies.
