Class 1 Logging Truck Driver – Forefront Forestry Ltd
Forefront Forestry Ltd is seeking an experienced and reliable Class 1 Logging Truck Driver to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate will have industry experience, mechanical knowledge, strong problem-solving skills, and a proven safe driving record with knowledge of Grande Prairie haul roads and mill sites.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong dedication to safety, knowledge of transportation rules and regulations, and adherence to all company and site policies.
Position Overview
This role involves operating logging trucks safely and efficiently while transporting logs from forestry sites to designated mills and destinations. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and comfortable working in demanding logging and off-highway environments.
Responsibilities
- Operate logging trucks to transport logs from job sites to designated destinations
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete reports
- Operate under Alberta provincial regulations and company safety guidelines
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, loader operators, and crew members
- Perform routine maintenance checks and report mechanical issues promptly
- Navigate off-highway roads and rough terrain common in logging operations
- Maintain accurate logbooks and required documentation
- Adhere to all company, customer, and site safety requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Class 1 Driver’s License with air brakes
- Clean driving abstract required
- Minimum 3 years previous driving experience
- Knowledge of load securement and transportation safety practices
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and follow directions
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years log hauling experience
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Familiarity with Grande Prairie haul roads and mill sites
- Knowledge of DOT and forestry transportation regulations
- Day shift and night shift availability
