Company description
Luxury dog daycare in downtown Calgary, setting a new standard in canine care, safety, and enrichment.
Join Our Team as a Daycare Attendant at SODOG
At SODOG, we believe every dog deserves a safe, happy, and enriching day. We’re looking for a committed Daycare Attendant who shares our passion for dogs and is excited about building a career in canine care and behaviour.
This role is more than just a job — it’s an opportunity to be part of a team that truly values the individuality of every dog, creating an environment where they can thrive. If you love dogs of all sizes and temperaments, and you’re ready to put their well-being first, we’d love to hear from you!
Daycare Attendant – Physically Demanding, Cleaning-Intensive Role
Please read carefully before applying.
This position is not a job where you spend most of your day playing with or cuddling dogs. While dog interaction is an important part of the role, the majority of each shift involves hands-on physical labour and constant cleaning to maintain our high standards.
We are looking for dependable, hard-working individuals who genuinely enjoy active, labour-intensive work and understand that cleanliness and structure are critical in a professional dog care environment.
What You’ll Do
- Cleaning floors, walls, kennels, crates, and playroom surfaces
- Cleaning up urine, feces, vomit, and other messes throughout the day
- Disinfecting tools, equipment, bowls, toys, and common areas
- Remain on your feet for most of the shift while lifting, bending, mopping, hosing, and moving equipment.
- Supervise dog playrooms to ensure safety, structure, and calm group dynamics.
- Actively manage dog behaviour, including interrupting unsafe play and enforcing rest periods.
- Build trusting relationships with dogs by recognizing their unique personalities, needs, and play styles.
- Observe and report health or behaviour changes right away, keeping our pups safe and happy.
- Handle daily care tasks like feeding, walking, administering medications, and tidying up.
- Maintain strict cleanliness standards for the facility at all times — cleanliness is a core responsibility, not a secondary task.
- Communicate clearly with teammates and support coworkers during busy, high-energy periods.
- Provide professional, friendly service to clients during drop-off and pick-up.
- Work together with co-workers to get things done, while also showing initiative when working independently.
What This Job Really Requires
- Comfort with repetitive cleaning tasks for extended periods of time.
- Ability to handle strong smells, bodily fluids, noise, and fast-paced environments.
- Physical stamina to work long shifts involving constant movement and manual labour.
- Willingness to do unglamorous work consistently and thoroughly.
What We’re Looking For
- Must be 17 years or older
- Part-time ONLY, hours are expected to be 15-30 hours a week
- Previous dog handling or customer service experience is an asset but not required.
- A strong work ethic and willingness to do physically demanding work every shift.
- Reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
- Genuinely interested in learning about dog behaviour and professional canine care.
- Physically able to lift, bend, kneel, mop, scrub, and stay active throughout the day.
This role is ideal for someone who:
- Takes pride in cleanliness and hard work
- Enjoys active jobs rather than desk work
- Understands that professional dog care is real labour, not just playtime
- Is looking to grow in the canine care industry long-term
If you are primarily looking for a job centered on cuddling dogs, this role will not be a good fit.
At SODOG, we’re more than just a daycare — we’re a place where dogs are understood, respected, and loved. If you’re ready to invest in a career that makes a difference in dogs’ lives, we’d love to welcome you to our team.
Please submit your resume along with a cover letter telling us why you’re suited to the Part-time Daycare Attendant role at SODOG.
