Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
Work Location: Hybrid, on-site once a week, 115 Saulter Street
Contract Timeline: July 2026 - February 2028
Compensation: $68,000-$72,000 Annually, Dependant on Experience

The Position
The Payroll & Benefits Administrator is a detail-oriented, people-focused role responsible for biweekly payroll processing in Dayforce, ensuring compliance with policies, contracts, and legislation. This position also manages benefits administration, including enrollments and changes, while handling payroll adjustments, reconciliations, remittances, and the preparation of T4s and ROEs. Additionally, the role supports HR initiatives, joint health & safety tasks, and reporting, with responsibilities divided as approximately 45% payroll, 35% benefits, and 25% HR administration.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
- Ensure timely and accurate biweekly payroll processing in Dayforce
- Collect, input, verify, and process payroll data while maintaining compliance
- Manage hourly timesheets, time-off policies, and payroll-related inquiries
- Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and recommend process improvements
- Maintain confidential payroll records and prepare for external audits
- Perform routine payroll reconciliations, internal audits, and year-end reporting (T4s, ROEs)
- Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including statistical reporting
Benefits & Employee Savings Plan Administration
- Administer employee health benefits, including enrollments, updates, and terminations
- Process plan changes (leaves, new dependents, salary adjustments) and maintain accurate records
- Conduct regular audits of benefits and savings plan contributions
- Oversee employee savings plans (RRSP, RESP, FHSA, DPSP), ensuring timely updates and compliance
- Provide plan details to new members and respond to inquiries
- Collaborate with the HR Manager on annual reviews for benefits and savings plans
- Track employee absences and communicate with employees regarding leave status, return-to-work procedures, and required documentation
- Assist with disability management and work accommodation plans
HR Administration & Support
- Maintain and update employee records, databases, and confidential documents
- Track HR data, run reports, and support analytics initiatives
- Draft employment-related documents and coordinate employee training (Dayforce, benefits, savings plans)
- Manage employee milestone tracking and updates
- Ensure hub, newsfeed and other employee communication channels are kept up-to-date and relevant with forms and policies related to payroll & benefits
- Stay up to date with HR and Employment Standards legislation
- Communicate and enforce company policies while fostering positive employee relations
- Support joint health & safety tasks, special HR projects, and internal/external company events
- Other tasks as assigned
About You
Required Education & Experience
- College diploma, certification, or university degree in Human Resources or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of payroll processing experience
- Minimum 1 year of benefits administration experience
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps
- Experience with payroll, benefits, and HRIS software (Dayforce experience required)
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance
- PCP certification is an asset
