Visiontec Systems is a Canadian company that specializes in providing world-class, front-line security and CBRNE (chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear and explosive) technologies, products and services to clients across Canada. We don’t just distribute equipment we integrate, deliver, and support complex systems. As a trusted partner, our goal and passion are to mitigate our client’s security risks with solutions and services they can rely on.
We’ve grown a lot, and we continue to grow! However, getting from where we are today to where we want to be not only means changing the way we think about and how we do our work, but also, the need to implement more efficient and effective systems and processes. In support of this goal, we have created a new, Project Manager position that will be fundamental to shaping our future.
Reporting to the President, the Project Manager will be someone the President can hand a portfolio to and trusts that the project runs smoothly and on time ensuring the full slate of work moves seamlessly through the company from customer delivery and installation projects on one side, internal initiatives and process build-out on the other.
This role is not for someone who needs existing systems and templates to be successful. We’re looking for someone to create and implement those for us! Our ideal candidate will be someone who is collaborative, adaptable, has great leadership, communication and problem-solving skills, has worked with small companies and lean teams, and is able to create structure where there isn’t any, and can bring order without smothering a team in bureaucracy.
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 and will commensurate with experience.
What you’ll own:
- Run project portfolios end to end. Plan, schedule, resource, and drive both customer-facing delivery/installation projects and internal initiatives from kickoff to close.
- Be the single point of accountability for delivery. Keep projects on time, on budget, and on scope, and make sure the right people know what’s happening before they have to ask.
- Build the systems we don’t have yet. Create project management processes, tools, templates, and reporting cadence that move us from ad-hoc to systematic and pragmatic solutions right sized for our company.
- Provide leadership and oversight to direct reports. Provide direction, coaching and support to the Contracts Manager and other individuals as determined.
- Coordinate shipping & logistics. Work closely with our logistics lead to make sure equipment gets where it needs to be, when it needs to be there, in step with project timelines. This relationship is expected to deepen over time as the role establishes itself.
- Partner with the Head of Service. Collaborate closely with the Service Team so that what we deliver, we can support.
- Keep the President informed. Be the President’s right hand - ensure he knows what’s on track, what’s at risk, and what needs a decision.
What we’re looking for:
- PMP certification is preferred.
- 3–5 years’ project management experience, ideally delivering a mix of physical/technical and internal projects.
- 3-5 years’ people management experience.
- Experience working with small companies or lean teams.
- Proven ability to create and implement processes and systems from the ground up without over-engineering for the size of the business.
- Excellent leadership skills.
- Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
- Effective problem-solving, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to keep stakeholders aligned, manage conflicts effectively and provide accurate and timely updates to the President without sugar coating the message.
- Adaptable, calm under pressure and a good sense of humour when needed.
- Self-directed with effective time management and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills, including knowledge of and experience working with PM software.
- Must be able to be on-site (Georgetown) regularly as this role manages a team and needs to be present.
- Able to obtain high-level Canadian government security clearance.
- Some travel across Canada is required.
Nice to have:
- Experience delivering equipment installation, integration, or deployment projects.
- Background in the defence, security, public safety, or government supply space — and familiarity with how procurement and project delivery work with Canadian agencies.
- What we offer
- A genuine seat at the table — you’ll work directly with the President and the leadership team.
- The mandate and room to create and build systems, processes and a department from the ground up.
- A stable and growing company with 17 years of credibility, real momentum, and a clear growth mandate!
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- The opportunity to be a part of a great team!
If this sounds like your ideal position, we would love to hear from you!
- Visiontec Systems is an equal opportunity employer, and we would like to thank all applicants for their interest. Please note that we will only be contacting candidates under consideration.
