Position Title: Programs Manager
The Gastown Hastings Crossing Community Policing Centre’s (GHXCPC) Programs Manager position offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of Vancouver’s newest Community Policing Centre which encompasses two diverse neighbourhoods.
Organizational Background
The GHXCPC is a unique model as it operates as a Community Policing Centre and Safety Hub, sharing office space with other service providers. This model provides greater opportunities for communication and collaboration that will benefit the entire neighbourhood. The GHXCPC will focus on safety, education, crime prevention programs and initiatives that address community concerns and strengthen neighbourhood connections. The GHXCPC works in partnership with the Vancouver Police Department.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Program Manager’s key role will be to manage all aspects of the GHXCPC’s core programs and special events with support from the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Creation, development and implementation of new GHXCPC programs and initiatives
- Continuously think of ways to improve programs and increase effectiveness and volunteer participation.
- Organize and lead volunteer and community outreach special events.
- Assist with general office management.
- Assist in the development and creation of training manuals, policies and program guidelines.
- Assist the Volunteer Coordinator with social media
- Ensure implementation of GHXCPC policies and practices for all programs and at events
- Maintain records and statistics for all GHXCPC programs in partnership with the Volunteer Coordinator
- Interacting with and assisting walk in and phone clients and connecting them with services when requested
- Assessing reports and data to help influence program creation
- General office duties and assisting the Executive Director with miscellaneous tasks as required
- Assist with communications to volunteers and support volunteer recruitment and development
- Liaising with businesses, residents, and the Vancouver Police Department to navigate and resolve community concerns

Qualifications
- Post Secondary Education and experience in Non-Profit Management, Social Services, Community Development or some other related field.
- Supervisory experience with staff or volunteers.
- Strong writing and editing skills for grant proposals, newsletters and social media.
- Strong public speaking and interpersonal skills to promote crime prevention and safety initiatives and engage stakeholders.
- Ability to work with community partners, donors and volunteers to enhance program impact.
- Strong computer skills, including competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Strong public speaking skills to lead workshops, presentations, and outreach events.
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe), social media marketing or website management.
Assets / Nice to Haves
- A valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
- Fluency in languages other than English.
- First aid training.
- Naloxone training.
Location and Hours of Work
This is an in-person role, based at 109 W Hastings, at 40 hours per week. The role may involve outdoor work and activities at various locations within Vancouver. Weekend and evening availability is required. While the GHXCPC aims to establish a consistent schedule, flexibility is essential. Staff workdays are coordinated as a team and schedules may need to be adapted based on organizational needs. This could mean occasional changes to agreed-upon days to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to be eligible for this permanent position. The successful candidate will be required to pass a Vancouver Police Department Standard Information Check and Vulnerable Sectors Screening Check.
Compensation
Role Type: Hourly, 40 hours per week. Hours include some evenings and weekends.
Compensation: $28.00 to $32.00 per hour based on experience and skillset.
Seniority Level: Mid-Level
