Project Finance & SR&ED Specialist
QMC Metering Solutions supplies and integrates several meter technologies to effectively monitor the consumption of electricity, water, gas and thermal energy consumption of commercial and residential properties. We have offices in Port Coquitlam, Ottawa and Toronto and have a support and distribution network across the country including Edmonton and Montreal.
The Project Finance & SR&ED Specialist provides comprehensive administrative, accounting, compliance, and analytical support to ensure effective coordination and execution of project activities. This role serves as a central point of communication, documentation, and reporting across project teams, contractors, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate is organized, detail‑oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. Experience as a Business Analysis considered an asset.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Support
- Assist with project cost tracking, coding invoices, processing purchase orders, and supporting expense reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate records of project expenditures and commitments.
- Support the preparation of financial reports, budget updates, and forecasting summaries.
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with company accounting policies and project cost controls.
Compliance & Reporting
- Coordinate the collection, verification, and submission of required compliance documents (e.g., safety, regulatory, contractual).
- Ensure all project documentation aligns with company policies, industry standards, and legal obligations.
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and submission deadlines; escalate risks or delays as needed.
- Compile and support SR&ED reports and claims
- Support audit activities by maintaining accurate and accessible records.
Data & Project Analysis
- Compile and analyze project data to support decision‑making and performance reporting.
- Generate dashboards, status reports, and progress summaries for project leadership.
- Identify trends, discrepancies, or potential risks and recommend follow‑up actions.
- Assist in developing workflow improvements and process optimization initiatives.
Administrative Support
- Coordinate daily project office operations, including scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and organizing travel arrangements.
- Prepare, format, and distribute project documentation such as minutes, reports, presentations, and correspondence.
- Maintain organized electronic and physical filing systems ensuring document accuracy and version control.
- Support communication between internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
- College diploma or equivalent experience in Accounting, Business Administration, Project Management, or related field.
- 2+ years of accounting administration or project coordination experience (engineering, or technical projects preferred).
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and experience supporting financial processes.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with project management or ERP systems is an asset.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality.
