We are looking for someone with leadership skills and ability to promote safety in a positive way.
Responsibilities will include:
Health and Safety
- Oversee the administration of the company's health and safety program
- Staying up to date on legislation and rulings in the construction sector
- Write, implement, evaluate, and review health and safety policies and procedures
- Prepare and train new hires and refresher training for current employees
- Arrange third party training for employees
- Maintain health and safety training records
- Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) activities; completing forms, return to work plans and follow-up/evaluation
- Conduct workplace inspections and incident/accident investigations
- Document minutes and organize and attend joint health and safety meeting and other safety activities
- Review, document and track accident/incident reports
- Maintain Safety Data Sheets.
- Maintain first aid kits
- Review CVOR inspections completed by employees
- Participate in Health and Safety WSIB Excellence program
- Conduct Jobsite inspections at ongoing construction barn sites.
Human Resources
- Training new employees
- Assist in the full cycle recruitment process
- Onboarding
- Maintain employee records
Administration
- Backup Phone coverage
- Assist with office administrative duties
The successful applicant will possess the following:
- Solid computer skills (Microsoft office, excel, word, etc.)
- Excellent communication, organization and time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills; personable and approachable
- Detail oriented
- Good with numbers
- Previous related experience in a health and safety role
- Knowledgeable of the current Ontario Health & Safety requirements
- Strong work ethic, positive and team-oriented attitude and a commitment to continuous learning
- Obtained or working on CRSP designation and/or Health and Safety Management Program
- Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification (Part 1 & 2) preferred
- Knowledge of Agriculture/Construction industry preferred
