We are assisting our client, C.Y. Loh Associates Ltd. which is a Vancouver based, boutique structural engineering consulting firm. They specialize in commercial, institutional and residential building design for projects in the public and private sectors of various size and scope.
The company’s work is characterized by careful attention to detailing, and a conviction that the structural engineering team can participate in the project design as a full player. As a result, the firm has gained a sound reputation for providing creative solutions to difficult projects.
They are currently seeking to add a talented and like-minded Intermediate CAD Technician to our project team.
Key responsibilities:
· Layout of plans incorporating structural member sizes and preparation of details based on engineering sketches, markups and discussions
· Following in-house and client-based design standards in both metric and imperial units
· Detailing of structural components that include steel, timber and concrete materials
· Develop and finalize structural design drawings
· Use of AutoCAD with our in-house design standards and project designs
· Participate in field inspections and project monitoring
· Collaborate with engineers to tackle project challenges
You will bring:
· A diploma from a recognized technology institute
· A minimum of three years’ structural drafting experience
· An ASTT designation is preferred
· Sound AutoCAD skills coupled with a proven ability to understand structural drawings, follow standard project procedures and instructions, can think for themselves but, knows when to ask questions.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills
· Be clearly fluent in English, both spoken and written
· Be able to work collaboratively and independently, and be able to understand directions, both verbal, written and in sketch form
· The ability to write LISP routines for AutoCAD would be an asset.
· Ability to prepare steel shop drawings would also be a useful skill.
The successful candidate must be living in the Vancouver BC area, be legally eligible to work in Canada and communicate clearly in English.
Note - A competency test in AutoCAD may be provided as part of the recruitment process.
This is a regular full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, 8:30 am to noon and 1:00 to 5:00 pm and be required to work in the office to facilitate interaction with other team members.
The expected salary range is between $60,000 to $75,000 annually. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
