Direct Construction is a well-established General Contracting firm with its Head Office in Toronto, Ontario. We are currently seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join our Ottawa office.
The Site Supervisor will be responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, including coordination, scheduling, inspections, and ensuring adherence to project budgets. Candidates must have proven site supervision and construction experience with a strong attention to detail.
In addition to overseeing day-to-day site operations, the Site Supervisor will actively manage and support on-site personnel by monitoring performance, providing feedback, and taking corrective action when required. This role will work closely with the Project Manager and serve as a key leader in driving project success.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of the project schedule;
- Monitor and ensure Quality Control is managed to meet Direct Construction’s high standards;
- Supervise all construction personnel and sub trades to ensure that the work is completed on time and budget;
- Ensure all work completed by labourers, and sub-contractors are in accordance with contract specifications, and drawings;
- Complete daily reports on status of job, site condition, personnel on jobs, to include any on-site discussions which may be relevant to the job;
- Raise and discuss relevant issues at the job site meetings;
- Promptly inform the Project Coordinator and Project Manager of any anticipated delays, or changes in the scope of work;
- Ensure all work orders are properly completed and returned to Project Coordinator;
- Ensure that the as-built drawings are prepared on an ongoing basis by all trades during the construction period;
- Perform site inspection on jobs including sub-contracted work;
- Attend weekly office meetings with Project Coordinator to discuss and update the status of all projects. Discussions are to include a summary of completed job, status and update of current projects and scheduling of upcoming projects;
- Maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced;
- Ensure Direct’s Policy and Procedures manual is adhered to;
- Have confidence in own ability to intelligently communicate with design team/client as well as effectively lead the trades.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Construction Site Supervisor;
- A construction related degree/diploma is an asset;
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings and plans;
- Strong management, delegation, planning and leadership skills;
- Knowledge of relevant construction law and building codes;
- Ability to be flexible and work in a fast paced environment;
- Excellent Communication, time management, and organizational skills;
- Has the ability to mitigate and manage on site discrepancies between work forces, and sub-trades;
- Must have computer skills.
