About the Opportunity
Shermco is seeking a Safety Coordinator to support our Saskatchewan Operations team. In this field-based role, you will provide on-site safety leadership for commissioning, maintenance, and construction projects. You will play a key role in reinforcing our safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and driving continuous improvement across all field operations.
Shift: 7/7 shift with 12-hour workdays + Camp accommodation while on rotation
Responsibilities:

Provide on-site safety supervision, coordination, and guidance to commissioning, maintenance, and construction crews, supervisors, and team members

Perform field audits and inspections to meet internal and external KPIs
-
Conduct job site safety compliance inspections, including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, reporting, and recommendations

Observe equipment, tools, and site conditions to identify hazards and report concerns to leadership
-
Act as a key safety resource for employees, supporting audits, inspections, and investigations
-
Maintain authority to stop unsafe work when required
-
Ensure ongoing compliance with required safety training and certifications
-
Maintain Shermco’s training matrix and new hire orientation processes
-
Conduct and support site-based competency assessments
-
Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and presentations; ensure follow-up on all actions and concerns
-
Conduct thorough incident investigations, including root cause analysis, reporting, and follow-up actions
-
Support resolution of claims and contribute to liability and causation assessments
-
Lead and support safety audits in collaboration with OH&S committee members
-
Initiate and implement health and safety programs, projects, and continuous improvement initiatives

Assist in developing and revising safety manuals, procedures, and training materials

Assist with case management of occupational injuries and illnesses

Collaborate with WCB and insurance providers on claims and appeals

Support proactive return-to-work programs in partnership with employees, supervisors, and HR
-
Contribute to the development of safe and effective return-to-work plans

Support Project Managers with procurement and management of site-based PPE and safety supplies
-
Provide safety documentation and reporting to customers as required

Stay current on Occupational Health & Safety legislation and regulatory changes across jurisdictions

Recommend updates to policies and procedures to ensure ongoing compliance

Perform other duties as assigned in support of Saskatchewan Operations
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field (preferred)

Professional safety designation (e.g., NCSO, CRSP) is an asset
-
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites
Experience
-
5+ years of safety experience in construction, industrial, maintenance, or electrical environments
-
Experience supporting field-based or multi-site operations

Strong knowledge of Saskatchewan and Canadian OHS regulations
-
Proven ability to lead, influence, and coach teams
-
Strong communication and presentation skills
-
Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
-
Highly organized with strong attention to detail
