Bakery Assistant / Production Assistant
Reports to: Bakery Manager
Location: Niagara Region, Ontario
Position Type: Full-time
Schedule: is primarily Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend work depending on production needs and seasonal demand.
Role Overview
Koru & Crust Pie Co is a growing bakery specializing in handcrafted savoury pies and baked goods for both retail and wholesale production. We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and hands-on Bakery Assistant to support daily production and grow with the business.
This is a practical, fast-paced role that includes pastry work, savoury pie production, dessert preparation, fillings, food preparation, and general bakery support. The successful candidate will work closely with the Bakery Manager and owners as we continue building production systems and expanding operations.

Core Responsibilities
Production & Bakery Support
- Assist with preparation and assembly of savoury pies and bakery products
- Prepare pastry, fillings, sauces, and dessert components according to recipes and production standards
- Assist with baking, cooling, finishing, packaging, and labeling products
- Support both retail and wholesale production runs
- Maintain consistency, portion control, and product quality
Food Preparation & Butchery Support
- Assist with preparation of ingredients for pie fillings
- Support basic butchery and portioning tasks as trained
- Follow all handling, storage, and food safety procedures for raw ingredients
- Assist with vegetable preparation, cooking, and general production prep work
Food Safety & Cleanliness
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergen, and labeling procedures
- Complete cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout shifts
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe workstations
- Support proper storage, rotation, and FIFO practices
Team & Business Growth Support
- Work closely with the Bakery Manager and owners to support daily operations
- Help maintain a positive and productive work environment
- Be open to learning new skills and adapting as the business grows

Qualifications & Skills
Required
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Comfortable with hands-on kitchen and production work
- Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and production procedures
- Strong attention to detail and consistency
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods
Preferred
- Culinary, baking, pastry, or food-related education or training
- Experience in a bakery, kitchen and worked on a line, or food production environment
- Food Handler Certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Interest in baking, pastry, savoury food production, or food manufacturing
Pay: $17.20-$25.00 per hour
