About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 85-year-old woman experiencing early-stage Alzheimer's who lives independently in Barrie. She maintains her personal hygiene independently but needs support with daily activities to remain safe and comfortable at home. She's experiencing memory changes and occasionally feels lonely, making companionship and supervision important aspects of her care. This is the family's first time arranging professional care support.
Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent supervision to ensure safety throughout the home
- Prepare nutritious meals and handle light meal prep duties
- Assist with medication reminders to maintain proper medication schedule
- Perform light housekeeping and tidying to maintain a clean living environment
- Complete laundry tasks as needed
- Provide engaging companionship and social interaction
- Accompany client on walks and outings when appropriate
- Assist with grocery shopping
- Provide occasional transportation for errands or appointments
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed
What We're Looking For:
The ideal caregiver will be calm, patient, and bring positive energy to each visit. We need someone who is reliable and consistent, as maintaining the same caregiver is essential for building trust and routine. The caregiver should take initiative when needed while respecting the client's independence. Experience with cognitive support, memory care, and supervision for safety is required. Medication reminder experience and meal preparation skills are essential. The caregiver must speak English, Russian, or Urdu, and hold a valid driver's license for occasional transportation needs. This role requires someone who can provide companionship while remaining attentive to safety concerns and changing care needs.
Schedule:
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM (4 hours per visit, 12 hours per week). Consistent weekly schedule to ensure continuity of care with the same caregiver.
