Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Foot Care Nurse (Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse) to join our team as an Independent Contractor. In this vital role, you will provide specialized foot care services to diverse patient populations, including seniors, individuals with chronic conditions, and those requiring wound or diabetic foot management. Your expertise will help improve mobility, prevent complications, and enhance overall quality of life. Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (RN or RPN)
- Advanced Foot Care Certification
- Current CPR Certification
- Experience providing foot care services to older adults and individuals with chronic health conditions
- Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) best practices
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct foot and diabetic foot assessments.
- Provide routine and advanced foot care nursing services within scope of practice.
- Develop and implement client care plans.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
- Educate clients and caregivers regarding foot health and preventative care.
- Refer clients to physicians, nurse practitioners, specialists, or other healthcare providers as required.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with PHIPA requirements.
- Participate in incident reporting and quality improvement activities as required.
Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC)
The Contractor shall:
- Follow applicable infection prevention and control standards and best practices.
- Maintain a clean and safe treatment environment.
- Utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report infection control concerns, incidents, or breaches immediately.
- Maintain competency in IPAC practices relevant to foot care services.
Autoclave and Instrument Reprocessing
The Contractor shall:
- Be responsible for cleaning, disinfecting, packaging, sterilizing, storing, and transporting reusable instruments.
- Operate and maintain autoclave equipment in accordance with applicable standards and manufacturer requirements.
- Maintain sterilization and biological monitoring records.
- Ensure instruments are properly sterilized prior to client use.
- Remove any defective, damaged, or non-compliant instruments from service.
Insurance and Compliance Requirements
Prior to providing services and annually thereafter, the Contractor must provide:
- Proof of current CNO registration
- Professional Liability Insurance
- Commercial General Liability Insurance
- Advanced Foot Care Certification
- CPR Certification
- Vulnerable Sector Check
- WSIB Clearance Certificate or Independent Operator documentation
- Signed Confidentiality Agreement
Independent Contractor Status
The Foot Care Nurse provides services as an independent contractor and is responsible for maintaining all required licences, certifications, insurance, professional memberships, continuing education, and regulatory compliance requirements.
